The challenge of our age is being fully present, but it isn’t just a practice or skill, it is about maturity and value and transformation. We go through a process that God leads and woos us into. He is the mover. We respond, and he moves us into deeper abiding and attention.

Distraction is the norm in this age. To focus means we say no. Whether we are with a person or doing a task, to be fully present is more about what we say no to than what we say yes. For most us, our problem is that we say yes to multiple things simultaneously. It doesn’t work.
